For my first post, I thought I’d share how our Wiggly Goat Farm business came to be.
We’ve called our home “Wiggly Goat Farm” since 2002. That’s the year we got some wiggly goats to live with our sheep, and I began crafting and selling soaps & yarn at local farmers markets. Soon after, I added goat milk lotion, felted items and pottery to my list of wares, and llamas, alpacas, chickens, and a lot more goats, to our barn. Raising farm animals and handcrafting milk & fiber-based items was always delightful and complimented my job as Farm Manager at a large resort.
But, last fall, after retiring from the resort business, I had an epiphany. My eldest son helped me see that I could grow Wiggly Goat Farm into a second career.
My husband and I live in one of the oldest homes in Vermont, with a farmhouse and barn dating back to the 1700’s. We have a beautiful view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains and often marvel at the rich history of this area. By making products that come from our garden and animals, I feel connected to our property’s agricultural past and to those who lived here before us.
We specialize in making small-batch goat milk lotions and soaps, as well as gorgeous farm-blend yarns and felted items. We take pride in using ingredients that come straight from our farm or neighboring ones, and by sourcing other ingredients that are sustainably and ethically grown & harvested, so you can feel good about using our products. We believe in creating products that are good for you, good for the animals, and good for the environment.
As our business grows, I plan to offer items that I love, made by artists I admire, that fit into our Vermont lifestyle. I hope you will love them love too!
