There’s a special magic in the sound of llamas humming. It’s soft, curious, and almost secretive—like whispers carried on the wind. For the past few weeks, our barnyard has been alive with that gentle hum, thanks to the arrival of two very special guests: a mother–daughter llama duo named Harriet and Hazel.
These lovely ladies (also known as Talia and Brianni) traveled all the way from Dakota Ridge Farm in New York, brought to us through the thoughtful matchmaking of our friend and llama expert, Katrina.
A New Chapter After Whisky
Their arrival comes after a bittersweet chapter in our farm’s story. When our beloved llama Whisky passed in 2024, the barnyard felt quieter without his calm, protective presence. To fill the space—and keep our alpaca Cinnamon company—we welcomed Magnolia and Ella, a bonded pair in need of a new home.
Magnolia settled in beautifully, but Ella had one irresistible pastime: chasing our sheep and goats. Though she meant no harm, her favorite “game of tag” was tough on our older animals, and we knew it wasn’t a safe long-term fit.
With hopeful hearts, we arranged for Magnolia and Ella to return to Dakota Ridge Farm, where they would thrive—and in exchange, Harriet and Hazel trotted into our lives.
Guardians at Heart
It didn’t take long for these girls to prove their worth. Just last week, they spotted a curious coyote near the pasture. With a fierce glare and a bold chase, they sent it running straight back into the woods. Guardianship clearly runs in their blood.

New Faces, New Bonds
Right now, we’re in the gentle stage of introductions. Cinnamon the alpaca, along with Annabelle and Becca, are cautiously getting to know their new llama neighbors. The sheep and goats are slowly realizing they don’t need to panic at the sight of these two watchful guardians. And as for us—Chris and I are still peering across the pasture, trying to tell Harriet from Hazel!

It’s the beginning of a new llama love story here at Wiggly Goat Farm. We’re so excited to see how Harriet and Hazel grow into their new roles—and how they’ll shape the future of our barnyard family.
