Farm-Blend Yarn—A Little Bit of Our Farm in Every Skein

Our farm-blend yarns are one-of-a-kind creations from Wiggly Goat Farm. Each begins with the fleeces of animals we raise and care for here on our Vermont farm.

Every year, we carefully skirt and sort our fleeces, selecting fibers for three distinctive yarns: a lighter Natural Farm Blend in bulky weight, a rich Dark Farm Blend in worsted weight, and a subtly Variegated Farm Blend created by combining the natural lights and darks of our fleeces.

Our lighter bulky yarn brings together fiber from Magnolia, our white llama; alpacas Annabelle and Becca; Angora goats Midge and Higgins; and Finnsheep Hanna, Fancy, Freya, Iris, and Jellybean. The result is a soft, naturally lighter yarn that carries a little part of each animal in every skein.

Our Dark Farm Blend begins with the naturally darker fibers of Cinnamon, our alpaca; llamas Harriet and Hazel; and Finnsheep Ted, Otis, Finn, Phoebe, Juniper, Mabel, and Sweetpea. Together, their fleeces create a rich, warm-toned worsted yarn with the distinctive qualities of alpaca, llama, and Finnsheep wool.

Our Variegated Farm Blend is made by separating the lighter and darker shades of our Finnsheep, alpaca, and llama fleeces before bringing them together in a subtly variegated yarn.

The selected fibers are custom blended and spun for us at Green Mountain Spinnery. Nothing is dyed, so every shade comes directly from the natural colors of our animals’ fleeces.

Every skein represents the animals we love, the changing character of their fleeces, and the care that goes into raising them, shearing them, preparing their fiber, and creating something beautiful from what they naturally provide.

Because our yarns are made from the fleeces available each year, every batch is unique and produced in limited quantities. The exact blend, color, and character may vary—and once a particular batch is gone, it cannot be recreated exactly.
